A few photos to get started

I did a little work to the head a while ago so it is not as shiny as it could be be. All I have done so far is clean up the throat of the port behind the valve and narrow the valve guide so that it is not so much of an obstruction to incoming airflow. What remains is to do a bit more on the exhaust side and work on the combustion chamber around the valve as there is a step left by the original machining process. Is there any point in polishing the combustion chamber?




Also a photo of the twin 1.75 (44.5mm) inch SU setup on a pinto manifold which I have lying about. Is this just a good door stop?

I often wondered if ford had experimented with different plug positions based on the casting around the plug exit. From what I have read it is benificial from a power point of view to have the plug near to the exhaust valve as this is the hottest part of the chamber

I'll be very interested in hearing the verdict on the twin SU's as I've stumbled upon a set myself off a V8 landrover and was wondering on how the Pinto gets along with them.

- 50000 mile 2.0 injection block on standard bores with standard pistons and rods.
- Bores honed and new rings fitted.
- Standard injection head with some home porting using my trusty dremmel.
- Modified valves with back cut to improve flow. Get some IVY valves, ask graham bahr, for their phone number ....comparo =
- Combustion chamber modified to help un-shroud the valves.
- FR32 cam.
- 10.75 compression ratio. Block decked to bring pistons flat with the top.
- Ceramic coated piston crowns and skirt. not necessary and waste of money
- Slot or small dish machined into the piston crowns around spark plug to help with flame. waste of time
- Flame grooves machined into head to help reduce the possibility of detonation.waste of time
- I will try to ceramic coat the exhaust valves. waste of time and money
- 4 branch manifold.
- Modified/re-jetted 32/36 carb. Forget the SUs, Can u not find a V6 carby ?
- May look at making crank scraper.

- Megajolt spark ignition. What are the advantages of this

What head gasket are u using as they are all different thicknesses.

U need to maintain a 30 odd tho clearance, head to piston.
