Does anyone want to have a stab at identifying this sump? Was told is was an RS but am not sure since looking at recent pics. It has a removable baffle.
It also has no attachment for the clutch cable...I made a plate and a nylon bushe for it.

Craig,
Bad news, its absolutely not a genuine Escort RS sump.
Could it be Sierra ?

it looks like a replica , but if it keeps the slipery stuff inside ? it is doing its job !
dont worry as i have seen some handmade "tin" sumps " on some good engines & the theory is they are lighter and can have a larger oil capacity
ps its the 1st "pirate" alloy sump i have seen
looks like you have a rare colectors item .

John,
I'm not disappointed...the whole car is a "Mk1 RS2000 replica". I've never tried to pass it off as anything else, the fact that the sump isn't genuine RS is no biggy. It could be Sierra, I can't remember if it has a Ford logo cast in it. Next time I change the oil, I'll have a look!!
Steve,
yes the oil stays in, all good. I did have to re tap the sump plug but apart from that dry as a nuns nasty. The oil pump is a Mellings high pressure / high capacity.
