WTB - Pinto DCOE inlet manifol

I'm sick of running old foam "sock" type filters on the rally car so purchased this lovely itg airbox that clears the fuel rail on the TB's from Demon Tweaks.

The only problem is because the inlet manifold is angled backwards to clear the dissy cap there's not enough room to clear the firewall.

So my question is - does anyone have, have seen, know who would make, a manifold with runners not angled back? Used with a side exit dissy cap, as Clayton has on his car should get me out of trouble.

hey cam try to move the engine over as far as the extractors will allow even notching the chassis rail & cut & shut engine mounts to suit , ie engine off centre line to give more breathing space for carbs

Thanks Steve, but it's not inner guard but firewall clearance that's the problem.

I hadn’t found anything in past searches, but as I lifted the ports at the same time I decided to make my own.
My old manifold was a Lynx and the rear port did travel rearward a bit. Looking at the Redline manifold, it seems to be a bit better in that instance.
Danny will know for sure and probably has a few.
Sorry can’t help much more than that.

Use a HT manifold and piss the distributor off all together and run coil packs

Hey Danny, out of interest I have seen you mention the HT manifolds a couple of times but can't find anything with a bit of googling. Who and where does one get an HT from??

Thanks Clayton, was unaware of Weber Performance. That Lynx unit doesn't look too bad.

Would also like some details on the HT ones too please Danny.

Hi,

here is a photo of a HT manifold.
I asked HT in the UK some years ago if they still sell these but they didn't anymore.

Leon.

I'm thinking of having some made out of a billet as I want one for my own engine and could have some extras made but it wouldn't be cheap probably 7-800
Would that scare everybody

The Redline manifold is a copy of the old Warnerford-Ford manifold but not as good of a casting so are a little fussier when you're opening them up

Thanks Danny and Leon. That would certainly do the job.

$700-$800 does scare me Danny. That's two or three events I could do. :D

800 aint bad in my books if you consider it's a billet and a redline is 300 plus a lot of work to get it right. I may be interested Danny, where you planning on having it machined to clear the large body dissy's?

I reckon this one would come in at a little over $200 with postage.

Leaves me a bit for machining.

Too long if you using weber pattern and depth throttle bodies it will be too long

Thanks Danny. Out of the Lynx and Redline would you say one was better than the other?

Both the ones mentioned above are the mangoletsi ones which if you get the ruler out and measure up in the engine bay you will see almost put the trumpets on the inner guard. How they sell them to suit escorts I don't understand.
The redline ones are a good fit.

The M181 Lynx manifold I've got has a 79mm runner length (centreline)
The #4 runner is angled rearward by 8mm (measured from the 38mm port edge to the 45mm carb edge, or the centreline is 4.5mm to the rear)
Hopefully the picture will make sense.
As for the longer manifold, you could run shorter ram tubes and a slimline filter ??
Its the overall combined runner length that is important and it does make a difference.

The Lynx manifolds have improved over the years as the early ones had a tinge of red in them from the recycled Coke cans and had a lot of problems with porosity but the Redline is a copy of the old Warneford which was the best of the lot
