Hi,

Chasing the little valve box that sits on the inner guard below the brake booster on a Mk1 Escort.

The one I have has seized.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Damion

it's not a compensator as it's acts as a switch to turn on the warning light under the dash

It's main function is to block off a leaking brake line in the event of a failure downstream to prevent the master cylinder from being bled dry. The piston that moves to block off the broken line is also the trigger for the warning switch. Good luck finding one that actually works, but as long as the piston is rusted solid in the centre then it will let the brakes work just fine, albeit without the safety features.

I wasn't sure what it's actual name was, but while hunting around on the net that seems to be what the poms refer to it as.

Thanks for the info Scott, I wasn't sure what it's actual purpose was. Yeah, if I can't find one that isn't seized I might be best off reusing the one I have. It was probably seized prior to removal by the sounds of things!

I will see how I go.

Cheers.
