I started working on this head a while ago as a bit of an experiment to eventually upgrade to once I was finished, but since I have sold the pinto and most of the associated bits, this head can go too, unfortunately before I got to finishing it.
Specs:
New stainless 47mm inlet valves, cut down from a 48mm Volvo valve, new standard exhaust valves.
The inlet ports have been raised 5mm and widened with the floors filled to D shape. Inlet guides are k lined.
Exhaust ports extensively modified.
New valve seats have been cut and all faces machined except for the actual head face as I didn’t know what sort of compression I wanted or whether I was going to fill the chambers.
I never got any flow bench tests done because I never finished it but with a 47mm valve the achievable numbers should be pretty good. The ports still need finishing where the seats were cut as do the chambers.
Head was crack and pressure tested and it came up fine.
Manifold is custom in aluminium, I had it made to fit the raised ports in the D shape, but it was made with 56mm OD tubes so there is plenty of material that can be ported if someone is looking to reshape them. All parts were water cut to my design and then TIG welded together. The spacing is slightly larger between the carb mounts to give the straightest path for all barrels to the valve. The carb side is to fit 48mm carbs. Face to face is 70mm deep.
Using this manifold will require modification to the distributor to use. At the very least a 90 degree style cap is needed. I test fitted it with a 90 degree cap and no linkages on that side of the carb and it needed some plastic shaved off the cap, but it was fine. Sorry don’t have any photos to show how close it is.
At this stage I would like to sell the head and manifold together because they are matched.
Looking for offers around $1200
