Two RS1600s totaled yesterday at Sandown in the group N race.
Sad sight indeed.

What a stupid comment to make! It’s not hard to find names for the two drivers, there weren’t too many Escort RS1600 cars DNFing at Sandown. And no matter who the drivers were, if they were or were not those you thought they might be, to be unaware of the background to the accident and comment like you have is foolish.

Someone sounds a little upset.
Steve did not deserve that spray.
This thread fails without carnage pic's.

That's a sad sight. Nice find David.
I hope everyone involved is ok.
You can't blame the Blue Mk1 for thinking the road was blocked.

Hard to tell from the distance but it looks like the red capri turned the yellow escort around and the blue one zigged when he should have zagged.

I was behind the Torana when this happened. Yes the Capri tagged Pete Owen in the yellow RS1600 and turned him around. Unfortunately David in the blue RS picked the wrong way and t-boned Pete. Both Drivers are ok which is the main thing as it was a very hard hit. Petes car is destroyed. It was hit right in the passenger b pillar and pushed in at least 500mm. Davids car is repairable.
Cheers Peter

Great shot Peter (maybe a bit large!) At least you got through the weekend with nothing more than a broken headlight! Did you end up getting one?

Great photo!
I've alway been curious to know how so many Nc Escorts (Qld cars in particular) manage to run wheels with what look to have massive negative offset under standard arches with room to spare? Do they run Anglia diff housings or something? I can't imagine the rules allowing the shortening of standard housings.

Oops, sorry Gary didn't mean it to come out that large. Will need to re-size it some what. I sure was great to be able to drive it on to the trailer on Sunday night unlike a couple of the others. A niggling misfire and some minor brake issues to solve but that's all. Haven't had a chance to look for a head light yet. Been a bit busy at work. As for the rear wheel clearance as far as I know they do not shorten the housing as it is not allowed. There is definitely not room to spare even though it may look like it in the photo. The car doesn't run a panhard bar or watts link so I am sure there is a bit of body movement.
Cheers Peter

Hi Guys,
did anyone get any photos of the Group C RS? Being a little car at the back of the field the photographers don't take many shots....
Thanks,
Nev.
