i have done this event about 15 yr ago with don irving in an escort
and it looks like this year i will be sevice crew
for an old escort with an older driver
with a bit of history ??????

all i can say is its a good spot for
a bit of tree dodging &
im kinda lookin fwd to it
hope you can make it mark .
its a pretty short rally realy
but getting there is a bit of a hike

The short event is only the come and try,

The actual rally runs on saturday and is 250km's with 130km competitive.( yes I know that is shorter than the escort days :) buts its getting harder every year to find forest roads)

There are new roads this year.

The camp ground is a huge old school oval, there are flushing toilets and hot showers. The Foresters also open their little pub for us and offer food as well.

I am waiting to see if i get the day off but i am more than happy to help anyone have a go in the come and try.

I don't think I'll be competing at this one, but might come down and officiate.

i won't be there unfortunately...Car isn't ready really to go to the effort of dragging it all the way up to Gallangowan for something simple to go wrong.

The new date for the event is the 26th February, whilst the Come and try event has been cancelled, the organisers have opened entries for late entries in the rally proper for interested parties! Just look in the link for regs. Entries are open again!

It may be a good event for the Escort fan in Qld. Usual suspects, Glenn Mitchell, Eugene Rutland and I are all entered, Matt Lining will be bringing out his car and I believe Ed Mulligan (at least his posts on BMSC forum suggest so) will attend!

Not quite an evening at the Norman, but I reckon the weekend should still contain enough BS to entertain!

Hmm. Not every escort is built to be a rally car.. is it. How many pristine examples would be left in Aust if they were all at the mercy of a high speed rally track?

Is the rally AT Gallangowan or TO Gallangowan? I thought most of the roads up that way got washed away...

The Rally is at Gallangowan. The Jimna range is single lane in a couple of places I believe, so the road to Gallangowan is a bit suspect from the South. However if you come from the North like I do, it's all good (well once you get off the Bruce highway that is). As for the actual course, it's been reduced back to only 100km competitive due to the damage. The organisers have had a team of helpers up there fixing what they could, and the locals had been busy too. A bit of rain today to settle the dust, and it'll be great come Saturday!

tanz , just completed paperwork with the event secretary , i dont think there is a published list yet
i spose we will all find out more at drivers briefing on sat morning
