RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

Gentlemen,

I received this last night from the FOSC, the organisers of the Bathurst Easter Historic race meet. It's a 6 hour relay held on the 5/6th April next year, and is open to road reg and club cars, and the best bit is you only need a L2S CAMS license. I'm already going to be there as Group C/A are racing in the HIstoric meet on the 2-4th.

I was wondering if there would be any interest in putting together an RS Motorsport team. We'd probably need the min 4 cars & drivers, and working on roughly 3min laps, that would equate to about 90mins per car/driver or about 30 laps each.

Have a read of the info below and check out the FOSC website. Would be a lot of fun and that once in a lifetime chance to drive around Bathurst at more than 60km/hr and not get booked

Pick your team for the 6-Hour Mountain Relay.

If you’ve ever wanted to compete at the world famous Mt Panorama circuit here’s the chance of a lifetime. The Festival of Sporting Cars, who re-introduced club level motor sport to Bathurst at Easter 2008, invites you and your club to participate in the first ever 6-Hour Mountain Relay on 5 & 6 April 2010.
You don’t need a Supercar or pots of money.
This CAMS sanctioned regularity event is open to everyone with a road (or club) registered or log-booked car. So it’s ideal for drivers who may have competed in supersprints or rallies and want to live the dream of running at the Mountain in the company of their mates and fellow club members. As a team event, not only the costs and driving can be shared, but also the excitement and camaraderie. Teams may comprise from 4 to 6 cars and drivers, and points will be awarded for consistency in recorded lap times. Remember, this is not a race and we don’t give out trophies – it’s all about keeping a cool head while having fun.
The buzz without the pressure.
The event will commence with driver briefings, course familiarisation and practice on Monday, with an hour’s lunch-break in the middle. On Tuesday, there will be a 6-hour team relay, split into two 3-hour stints. If your car is precious, or you’re daunted by the circuit, there’s no need to be nervous, we put safety first. You’ll receive training from The Masters – a team of well-known racing drivers with over 100 Bathurst endurance races to their names – who’ll help ensure that you don’t get out of your depth. You should be able to drive your car there, compete in it and drive home.
Get in now to ensure a place.
Numbers will be restricted to ensure that everyone has optimum access to resources like The Masters and there is no overcrowding on the track, so places will fill up fast. Given the interest we’ve already received, we urge you to get in early with an Expression of Interest. Clubs are welcome to hire corporate suites for viewing and entertaining members, families and guests. The entry forms are out - see attached.

If we're going to do this we will need to make a decision fairly quickly. Have a careful read through all of the regs and understand your financial committment.

We will need at least 4 cars & drivers. I'm checking with Charles as to whether the Group C car qualifies as a club car or not, but regardless we need a serious committment from at least 3-4 other people. There's no guarantee we'll get in even after paying our money as there is a lot of interest, but I'd certainly love the opportunity to go.

So who's in ???

PS. The "Way It Was" event is the race meeting on the Fri/Sat/Sun (2-4th April) while the 6hr relay is the Mon-Tue (5/6th). Make sure you can take holidays then.

I am definitely interested in this one, I would finally have a chance to get my MK2 into top gear again

Hmmm Conrod Straight in my X-pack, I have been desperate to find somewhere like that to stretch it's legs since arriving here in Oz

you have to get up the hill as fast as possible then open the drink bottle & eat yur sandwiches on the way down conrod & dont forget to hide the cigarette goin past the officials on pit straight

a 3.5 diff down hill , a 4.4 going up ??????
when would you ever use 1st gear ??

only got 1 diff ratio, 3.25:1 + 16' wheels = 315KPH@ 7800rpm in 5th gear

Of course it won't do that as it hits an aerodynamic brick wall at around 280KPH

But will still be fun seeing what it can get up to
