after hearing all the hype about these tyre shredding sideways dudes i decided to enter the old escort with a set of 20 yr old slicks on the back
& have a bit of a go !! well it was a bit more technical than you think , trying to keep it as absolutely sideways as possible just on the point of spinning the thing , it sure gives the elbows a workout , i 1st tried using the hyd h/brake to set it up but found the old "scandanavian flick"
worked the best , being under horsepowered to the rest of them didnt help , i might not have been the fastest, loudest ,most smoke etc but
the Escort was the crowd favourite . they booed & jeered the oficials when i didnt make it into the final top 10 shootout
it was a load of fun with a heap of runs 10 or 11 i lost count
would be good to do it again with another escort , a similar phsyco driver
is important too :lol:

there was another very familiar escort on display yesterday , such a pity it wasnt running , would have been great for the spectators huh ?

was there any driver insurance ?

John it is a replica built by a guy on the Gold Coast and only just finished. Danny knows the owner so I am sure he will fill in the blanks.

, gary van de linde is the owner , he purchased the QLD IYK.000
number plates a few years ago & obviously built the car up around them
you might be also interested to know there was a guy in north shore sporting car club sydney who had a std road car painted the same color with NSW IYK 000 plates , i dont ever know what hapened to it , thought you might be interested
