Phillip Island

There is some footage on YouTube of some of my runs at Phillip Island Historic for anyone that can be bothered to look. Had problems in qualifying, the first and the second race which resulted in starting from the rear but thanks to Colin's perseverance we sorted it out by race 3 Saturday and we started to enjoy ourselves and put in some good times.

Thanks Michael. Unfortunately the Drift died so I am using a Sony AS30 now. Its ok but I miss the twist lens and the exposure compensation of the Drift.

Yeah, the rotating lens certainly is handy, but the Sony's quality is still very good. Must have been a huge turn out, looked like a 40+ car field... which you certainly found your way through, qualifying back in the pack makes it very entertaining, thanks for posting.

Just curious, what diff ratio are you running and what revs are you pulling down the main straight?

Hi Nev, in race 3 I was running a 4.1 and was hitting the limiter before the start finish line. Changed to a 3.9 for race 4 and 5 and was still hitting the limiter but not having to feather for too long. Limiter set at a conservative 8600. Three of the QLD RS1600's were running a 4.4 and pulling high 9's down the straight.

Says you that revs the 1300 to 9 or more Lachlan.
Even after all the crap of the start in race 1 it is still one of the greatest historic events going, so yes I will probably go again. Got to be the best track around in my opinion. For some reason it just promotes good racing. You need to come back and show how good a 1300 Escort goes.
