In the first superbike video, is the 'smoke' blow-by gases or the misting of the oil???

Steve it's not that they are actually floating as spring and valve float (bounce) is extremely loud and would have rattled the microphone being that close. When we've run springs up at Ivan's on the rattler bench especially the BD and YB stuff you can here them clear across the building and out in the carpark especially at 9 and 10k plus rpm as it's a valve and spring assembly out in the breeze and if you stand next to it someone not used to it wll reach for the ear muffs
When you see them spin that is normal as you actually want them to to reduce seat and guide wear as well as bucket wear as the cams are postioned on the buckets to spin them to help lubrication and a valve spring by it's own design spins on it's bottom seat when the spring is compressed and is also the reason why you should always modify pinto collets so that they grip the valve stem as it stops the collet groove wear and helps the valves and seats last
