This is our Mk 1 RS2000 Replica. Started life as a 1973 1300 auto, purchased in 1989! Was meant to be a quick and cheap way to for me and my mate Tom to stop wasting money on compromised Escort road cars and have some serious fun. Then mortgages, marriage, family, overseas jobs, blah, blah, blah... got in the road and here we are 17 years later with something much more serious than intended.

Car has only been used in sprints and hillclimbs for 4 years as I can't afford to fix it if someone crashes into it!! Nothing really trick about it, Standard 5 speed, disc braked English limited slip, world cup, anti dive, adjustable front struts, quick rack, Volvo 4spots, Bmw vents, full alloy cage, no arms, no panhard, no watts. But it does have DannyMs old single cam in it and that definitely ain't standard!!
So i've been having a shitload of fun for 4 years and Tom, who lives in Sydney, has only driven it once....Poor bastard

Anthony,
Here's a couple more. As you can imagine, having had the car for so long I have about six million more!!

No Nev. That was taken by Wayne about 18 months ago. It was probably only a 49!! The funny thing was I did not even realise I had been up on 2 wheels until he told me! Don't think I would ever make a V8Supercar development driver!!

That is sweet! Man, I wish mine looked that nice. Lovely car Gary, would love to see it in real life if I'm down that way one day.

Anthony,
If you are ever down this way just send me a message and you are welcome to drop in. You should accidentally organize it to coincide with one of the 07 Mt Cotton Hillclimbs. Kill two birds with one stone!!

Hey Nev

I can see a session at the Norman coming on!!
Tom I'd say that is Golf GTI?
If you bring it up you'll have to take mum for a ride as I keep saying to her that she needs one!!

Dan,
He reckons that you'll have to force yourself to drive the 30 k's to the Coast for a steak.

Poor Bastard,
Great to see you on here - welcome aboard. When are you going to see the light and move back from Sydney :ANAL:

Danny,
Oohh this time we need to organise a taxi. If not the Norman, how about the Grand Hotel at Southport :drinkers: :partyman:

We can have a Small Ford Car Club 20yr reunion :supz:

Nev, Sounds like a top idea. Who else can we invite?

Danny - U forgetful bugger - told u I got the Golf on the phone a few mths back. It won't be up for Xmas (Family Truck for that journey) but I'll probably bring it up to do the full Ironman nxt year. Happy to strap Addi (spelling?) in for a spin and get her over the purchasing line. They're shipping 3drs now too.

Nev - Excellent idea. Who else do we still have contact with :?:

Also u shouold know (if not already) that someone is advertising a Group C Escort in Autotrader for $40k. You may want to look up the ad out of curiosity. No idea if that is a fair price. They probably trade hands so rarely that is is hard to judge. :?:

Gary - Get the wheels off Danny but sand blast that gun metal colour off else there will be a partnership dispute!

I think I'm hijacking this thread. Best I start using the general section. :D

Tom.

Thanks a lot!
There is enough bloody work gone into it! If you guys over there ever wonder why our cars are not always turreted or 4-linked in Oz, its because a lot of us have built our cars to "Improved Production" rules and that does not allow for any mods to the floor pan!! We can add arms but without boxes in the floor it makes it very hard to get a good geometry. (Though I suspect Neville or Roger have already explained all of this!)The only reason I don't have a Watts or Panhard is purely financial. Hoping to fix that this year sometime. We did originally build the car with a factory anti tramp kit, but found that this was binding up in competition and lifting the inside wheel up - hence instant oversteer! Good fun but not very fast. We wish we had the freedoms you have over there!!! Though I suspect that you wish you had dry 20deg Celsius in the middle of winter!! I did 13 individual events this year ( all sprints or hillclimbs ) and can only remember doing 4 damp runs in total!! Merry Xmas to all of you guys in the UK and Ireland. Hope it is not to cold. We are expecting 30 degrees C on X-mas day in SE Queensland which is a lot cooler than recent years!! But we will still have a "cold one" and a really big steak for you.

By the way that's a great looking RS you've got. One day I would like to have a nice Escort road car again!
