I have succumbed to the wide body lure and have embarked on forest arching the Mk1.
Here are a few photos of the progress.
The fist cuts...

Trial fitting the infill steel...

Checking wheel to Arch clearance...

I have decided to lower the back edge of the flare as its a race car not a rally car and a low look is desired...

One side is welded awaiting seam sealer and painting the other side is cut awaiting welding.
I am contemplating just riveting the black arches onto the body and not blending them as they look uber tough as is. Any thoughts?

I'd blend them personally, but that'd depend on how much rubbin' you plan to do on the track

I reckon they would look better blended, I've never liked the bolted on look.

Blended gets my vote on a Mk1 for sure. The work is worth it.

you make it look all too easy! Get it as low as you can! Mk1's with the big flares and wheels to match look the best.

OK, so I'll blend them into the body.
Progress to date,
Waiting on Axles to arrive still.
Front end is reassembled, with adjustable lower control arms, rack extensions and 45mm wider track. Will need 15mm spacers on the front to get front and rear track square.

Trial fit Rogers spare front flare, I love the colours!

Ok blended gets the nod

Wide axles

Wideened crossmember and long TCA,s

Rear Gaurd clearance... Just right.

Coloured paint in a week and hopefully front arched will arive for paint and its finished.

Justin that looks awesome mate!!! Roger's comment about bump steer is a pretty valid one i think. what are you going to do about bump steer? bump steer was one of the causes of me nailing a wall, so be careful about it.

Had to lower my tie rod ends to reduce bump steer as well. There was quite a lot :shock:
