Hi All, pretty sure this is my first post, but my name is Matthew, and I just picked up a 74 Mk1 Escort as a project. I don't really have much to add just yet, but here are a few pics of the escort that I just picked up. General idea is a Tarmac rally style resto (if you can call it that?) flared guards, twin cam 2 litres (of type yet to be determined) looks like it's had some kind of resto in the past, changed to the English style grill and lights, a few bubbles in one of the rear guards, bit of rust in the front drivers side pillar. And a bit inside the front doors. But all in all, not bad, I think a good base for a project.
Hopefully I can learn a bit on here, looks like a great site, Im sure Ill have a lot of questions!

Pretty tidy starting point, that.

Yep, took me a while to find what I wanted, but pretty happy what I ended up with. I hope to do as much of the "remove and replace" type jobs myself, but paint and panel work is beyond me, so wanted something that wasn't going to cost a mint to fix up there.

So went for a blue slip today (just so I can drive it around for a little while before I start), and the only problems were a worn tie rod end, and a small oil leak, which looks like its coming from around the speedo cable entry point. Nothing too drastic, so should be on the road next week once the tie rod end comes in and will then be on the way!

I have been working a bit in the background, and have obtained a 2L pinto with twin webers. Somewhere around the 200HP mark (a bit less, not 100% sure yet, will go back on the dyno when its in the car and properly setup).

That'll be a bit of a change from the 1300!
Any idea of the spec or who built it?

I know the guy (well I do now) that built it, but don't have the exact specs handy. Ill get the exact details (I have been told, but don't recall exactly cam specs etc), soon, but it should be up and running in the next day or so.
