The original van was shipped from Australia, then we got hold of it!!

I'm sure most of you will have noticed that we have a new forum sponsor - Gartrac Ltd

Hi all,

This van (not wagon) originated in Australia and was imported with a shipment of Mk1's and Mk2's. Once we saw it, we had to buy it! We love our vans over here!

We used to have one of these as our works delivery van back in the late 1970s early 1980s and thought it would be great to have one again.

The body was in excellent condition, hardly any rust, so only minimal repairs were required. The project started out as a repair, paint, throw some shiny parts at it and get it back on the road.

We then thought no..... Why don't we do something different, so we set about installing the following -
- Shock Turrets
- Watts Linkage
- Four link suspension
- Side outlet exhaust
- Etc, etc, etc

Basically this has had all our group 4 rally car modifications custom fitted into the floorpan of this little old van.

i will swap 3 panel vans for one good wagon estate

Some of the best lanes rally cars were Escort Vans in the 70's and 80's....That's night event road rallies that I grew up doing in the UK if you didn't know. (Not aimed at Gartrac as they would know!)
