Teardown progress.... This car has the largest amount of extraneous crap i have ever seen in a car. There was a lunchbox sized steel case in the boot that contained 2 CD players (soft mounted) with fixed CD roms. Apparently this was for the GPS navigation! There was a TV tuner, mobile phone module (I think..) 12 stack CD player. Electric motor driven everything and a zillion wires to go with it. Suspension is airbag with a compressor under the front right wing and level sensors on the control arms.
The doors alone are easily 60+kg each.

More crap and wires than you can poke a stick at:

The fan is hydraulic! WTF!

Slowly revealing more engine...

...and finally with the dash all out.. With just about everything push-locked together, nothing was easy to remove. Removal was made a bit easier with crowbar, FBH and a general lack of needing to keep anything in a workable condition...

The engine has a lot of plastic covery bits.

Wheelbase looks to be about 290mm longer than the Escort, shortening the floorpan won't be a problem as there's easily this much flat area to remove. I'll have to get the Escort shell tomorrow and start measuring for widths and other clearances.
Luckily it's way too hot to work out in the yard at the moment
