Hey thought i would join up here after just buying another mk1, the last on i had was my first car and being young and stupid i didnt treat it the best(not the worse either).
Anyway will be bringing this home next weekend, and hope start the process of getting it back on the road.
The car is extensively modified but everything is mod plated except the gearbox.

Welcome Rick.
I'm guessing by the tail lights and tacho it's rotary powered? Should be a weapon if it is.
Post up some more details when you get the chance.

Welcome rick,
Why would anyone do that!, I mean I'm all for engine transplants, gearbox and mechanicals but why oh why would anyone graft mazda tail lights and presumably rear panel onto an escort. If you want a mazda buy one dont ruin a classic!
I hope you intend to restore the real rear panel and lights.
Good luck with it and I look forward to progress photos.
Cheers
GTP

Yes i cant stand the rear lights either, i intend to to replace the rear panel and put original lights back in.
The rest of the car has had a bit of work done, supra 5 speed, hilux diff, half cage, No rear seat, and no its not a rotary under the bonnet.

Good luck with it mate. Plenty of knowledge kicking around within this forum - the only stupid question is the one you don't ask!

some ppl might say Graft a genuine mazda R100 grille into the front
to match the tail lights
this would be the perfect platform to build a genuine old school
MAZSCORT !!

Allot of people are probably going to hate what is under the bonnet, but it has/had a 4g63 evo3 motor in it.
motor was blown up and pulled apart, will be getting rebuilt and put back in there.
Got shown the time cards from its runs down the 1/4, all around the 12.6 mark

I like the green butterfly, that is often overlooked as being a worthwhile addition to any Escort - particularly a fast one.

Sounds like a fun toy. Don't fix the lights till you smash em.
Have fun with it.
