With the German RS done, dusted and in the garage I thought it time to add a MKI. Here is my new toy / project.
Its a '73 Auto shell with fibreglass arches, standard 1600 with twin 40's, extractors and a 4 speed. Suspension is MKII at the back; the front is pretty standard save anti dive and few other bits. It was originally built as a club car and it has a bolt-in half cage, harnesses and decent seats. Volvo calipers on the front.
I have acquired some bits from GRP 4 Fabrications including an alloy tank & filler and pedal box. I also have an alloy radiator and silicone hoses on the way. Vic at Currie Brothers in Taree is going to redo the engine; spec yet to be determined.
Basically I going to try some supersprints and hillclimbs (in the beginners section)

Brett just go to the Bathurst Light Car Clubs site and download the entry forms and put them in
They won't care how many events you've done

I would have a chat to CAMS first. I know you can log a car without a cage if it is road registered, but whether you can do it if a cage is already in place I'm not sure. I've logged my car for 3J without a cage and on a club permit. There was a lot of stuffing around because of people within the organisation who didn't know what they were talking about, but I got there in the end! I can't see why it should be any different for a car that is registered (or on a permit) but with a non complient cage as it will just mean the ROPS documentation won't be there, but for hill climbing you don't need it.

Thanks for the help Simon a & Danny.
I found it. Schedule J (Cages) provides as follows:
3. APPLICATION
A safety cage structure complying with Schedule J is required as follows:
3.1 Races (includes practice, qualifying and warm-up):
(a) Contemporary: Each vehicle other than a closed, road-registered vehicle participating in a Club or Multi-Club
level race.
(b) Historic (5th Category): Each vehicle in a race exclusively for the 5th Category shall be fitted with a safety
cage structure as required by the 5th Category Historic Technical Regulations and, where applicable, these
regulations.
(c) Trucks: As specified in Appendix A to the Truck Formula.
3.2 Speed and Modern Regularity Events:
(a) Each 1st Category vehicle in a Speed or Modern Regularity Event.
(b) State Championship and above level Speed Events and Modern Regularity Events, other than:
(i) a vehicle of the 5th Category (unless otherwise specified in the Historic Technical Regulations); or
(ii) a vehicle which is road registered.
I'll call CAMS on Monday.
Thanks again.

Almost ready for the Super Sprint at Eastern Creek on Sunday. The problem is that the car looks better than I can drive.
