200 k is too high. If you parts out you only get to approx. 50% of that. Having said that a magnificent car and its awesome that someone is prepared to pay something like that for a mk2. Probably wouldn't get someone paying that for a Mk1! everyone knows mk2's are better than mk1's!

That is ridiculously high. Just add the cost of the parts, including labour to build them and you don't get anywhere near that figure. People start rumours of the cost and it then becomes acceptable to charge that much. As I said though its a sweet car just not worth that much.

As the old saying goes, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. He probably charges that much because the workmanship is top notch and because people are willing to pay it, otherwise he'd be out of work.

Price too high? Stewie owns and runs his own workshop and has prepped a number of top level rallycars (Hyundai actually recruited him when they were looking at entering the ARC), but bought one and has won the Aust Classic series with it! Can I afford one, or would I buy one even if I could afford it? NO, but the standard is good, the back up service is excellent and all you need to do is keep writing cheques if you have the talent to push one!

Yep price is too high! For that price there are plenty of people within Australia that could could build a car to that level... But I guess you know what you're getting and he clearly has the runs on the board and specialises in group 4 escorts.
