Hello

Some of you might remember from several years ago when i used to race the escort in the Belgian Rallycross division. It was a green-white escort, 1600cc (-1600cc class), pretty fast (146bhp-dyno), but unfortunately i totalled it but got quite lucky in the crash.




Decided to sell all escort related stuff but now i'm back.

I've registered a 1100cc mk2 as an oldtimer and according to belgian regulations, its road legal and i can begin adjust the thing to more racy specs

I've made a small website bout it which contains all my work so far. I would be happy if you would take a peak and maybe write something in my guestbook.

It's great to have you back, and it's also great that you've managed to get back into an Escort again.

Could you give us a brief overview of what the Oldtimers series is all about. I've seen it on other websites and it sounds like a lot of fun.

Just had a look at your site, the car looks great, very clean shell you picked up there. Look forward to seeing the progress.

In belgium you can register a car as "oldtimer" once it reaches 25 years of age.

You then have to request the registration of the car and go to the car inspection. There they only check the tail lights, brakes, and have a quick look under the car.

After that inspection you dont ever have to go to the car inspection. So this means its modding paradise. Off course registering a 1100cc mk2 and building it gp4 specs with a cossy will attrack cops and they will inspect the car and see the engine is not conform = problems.

If you "mildly" mod the car, like 2ltr pinto wich looks pretty "old school", you wont have any problems running the car.

On the downside, you can only drive the car when its daylight, when your doing a testdrive (me always ) or when going to a well organised meeting.

As i intend to run the car only in weekends for fun, this is perfect for me.

O, car registration costs are very low too.

Racing wise, there is the German Youngtimer Cup which looks very interesting. The visit the Belgian racetrack Zolder where i live closely.

This cup holds all cars from the era of the escort mk1/mk2.
