My Mk2

Hi,
don't think I posted some photos of my car before so here it is!
Car is a '79 RS2000 restored/rebuild with Roger Clark's Manx 1981 MCD car in mind.
Strengthened shell, Safety Devices rollcage, homemade loom, FIA kill-switch, battery in boot.
OMP seats, Sabelt harness, alloy 45 litre fuel tank, twin Facet pumps.
Leda struts with Koni inserts, tensionstruts with 5/8" Gartrac ARB, rollertopmounts, WCXM, quick rack.
Single leaf springs, Bilsteins, 4.1 diff with LSD.
Mag Minilites (8Jx13 and 9Jx13 for the road, up to 11.5Jx13 for sprints/slalom)
BDE spec engine, 1790 cc, twin 45's, Tony Law exhaust, Lumenition ignition, Quaife SCCR gearbox, Tilton clutch.

Within the next weeks I will be fitting another (now 4-bolt) head and camcarrier with different cams, and an AP radial brake setup on the front.

Regards, Leon.

Very nice looking vehicle Leon, is this the engine you were originally looking at putting 50DCOEs on? (trying to locate a manifold from memory). Are you planning on doing a few tarmac events in it?
Cheers
Justin

Stunning mate....I remember Clark's MCD car well as the BBC program 'In the Deep End' profiled Chris Serle navigating for him on the RAC rally...

Thanks all for your comments!

Although the car is almost (FIA seats, harness, fire-extinguisher gear, intercom) ready to do events I am happy to just use it on the backroads over here. It isn't a concours car either, I clean/wash it every 2 years or less ...
The heatshielding on the extractors are exhaust jackets from thermotec (bought from Demon Tweeks in the UK).
(link : )
First time you start the engine with that stuff around the manifold it smells like the whole car is going to burn to the ground ...
The engine was a F2 spec BDE used in a single seater I believe.
Detuned it (smaller carbs, fast road cams), and generally rebuild it.
It has DFV pistons and getting new rings for them was a nightmare; in the end Andy Burton supplied me some genuine Cosworth items.
Photo is from the centre console: it has aircraft spec resetable fuses. I rewired it all and the normal fuses are now the bottom row of fuses.

Lots of people here are restoring a Mk1 or Mk2 most of them have a Kent, Pinto or a Zetec under the bonnet.

The manifold I was after was for the rally car of a good mate. We eventually made our own exhaust manifold from universal Powersprint bends and ends. Will post an in-car videolink of that car in the Video section.

Regards, Leon.

Ditto what Gary P. said, plus a 'I'm impressed' as well. Very clean car, great colour and an even better choice of cosworth. partydance.gif

I always thought BD's were pentroof not hemi style ?

Hi John,

BD's are a pentroof design, maybe pentroof with 'rounded edges'.
The valves are parallel to eachother so it cannot be a Hemi.

Leon.

That would put a horn on a jellyfish.
Fantastic work.
It should be a ripsnorta to drive.
