15x7 rubbing on front arch
I was given a set of ROH gamblers, 15x7 +20 offset. My wheel hubs are 10 mm wider than standard so the +20 works quite nicely with the strut clearance. Lock to lock is a problem. The tyre is fowling guard on the forward lowest point. I'm running 195 50's with gartrac struts and standard guards.
Any chance of resolving this without trimming the guard? Is that what most do to get 15's under the guards of the mk1?
It's a problem even when running 175/60's on 13x7 rims if you're running a proper amount of caster. When you cut it off, leave enough room to fold the edge over on itself.
Thanks for your replies, I figured Mr grinder would be the solution. You read so many forum posts about whats supposed to work without modification etc but there are so many variables. Is there anyone in Australia that is selling high quality reproduction twincam guards? The oz dollars performance against the pound makes me sweat thinking about importing them.
Full guards or just the eyebrows? I've got some fibreglass ones that I might try to fit to mine over summer if I've got nothing else to do. I've also got the molds for them.
How different are the Mexico/twin cam guards? Do they provide a lot more space in that lower front section? Im looking at how much material I'm going to have to remove from the guards to get clearance, its significant. Not sure if id be better off with just the eyebrows or just having new guards put on it and keeping my current ones as spares in original condition.
Unless the mexico guards have a lot more clearance, i think they will need modification as well?
The twincam guards are higher, and have the opening closer to the crease. Gary's car (orange) has the TC guards and runs a 185 /(60??) on 14's, mine are Mk2 eyebrows. I'm running alloy hubs on the front which give an extra 10mm offset. Fine for 175/60s on a 13x7, but i'm going to need to modify them (install TC eyebrows) to run 215s.

I think the ones I have are like Peter's I'll have a look when I get home and take a couple of pics if you like. I know the mold was taken from a steel replacement eyebrow.
Mine were steel ones that I got off a guy who went bubble arches instead. I think he said they were from rare spares. Not sure if they still do them or not.
So Rare Spares haven't had them in stock for quite some time and don't know how to get more, (thanks for the suggestion) they put me onto Yesterford who also don't have them.
I found a bloke on another forum who used to bring them in but no longer does, he put me onto these guys who I have emailed. See part no #309 - interestingly they say the use Mexico/twin cam interchangeably, are they identical?
By the looks of these, the mold is off the same steel replacement eyebrows that Peter has. I would suggest some trimming is required as you wouldn't want to go as far around as the bumper mount. I haven't fitted a set yet so I can't elaborate any further on how to do it
They look good! Both sets have a depression in a similar spot, so you might be right about being taken from the same source.
Do you have the mold for those? Are you interested in making another set? with time and materials do you think it would be easier and cheaper to import them from Motorsport tools?
I've emailed them asking for a proper shipping quote, the website says it would be about 120 AU landed - that will be hard to beat?
I'd sell the pair as you see them in the pic, I can't see me getting around to installing them on mine in the near future. I'll make myself a set when I need to.
Pete, you've done a fantastic job of that. I'm outsourcing the installation of the fibreglass guards. Would anyone like to recommend someone in Adelaide? All the body shops I have contacted are so busy they cant return my phone calls or emails or bother to quote.
