Why do my tyres rub!!

Hi,
I have some 13x7 rims with -13mm offset and a048 205 60 13 , yet they rub on lock.
The car has flared arches so you would think it clear OK, I have also tried dropping the front down but I am limited by the springs and suspension.

Any Ideas I am at my wits end with this dilema.

Do I have the wrong rims for the car?

TIA
Emil

Rims measure 200mm wide so that means -13mm offset.

Struts are MK2 escort with Bilstiens, threaded section 50 mm down from top of strut, currently have some 200lb 8 inch springs installed

A anti-dive kit on the sway bar will pull the front wheels forward.
A adjustable sway bar will help a bit more.

Drop it about 6 inches in the front and see if it still happens.

Yeah, I had it all the way down and it was no better, still rubbing on the front and rear of the gaurd down the bottom.
I cant get the front much lower, another 3 inches but then I have no strut /shock travel.
Front does seems high I do have engine and gearbox in.
I dont see the trim etc lowering the car much more, the engine didnt make much change when it went in.
springs were 10 inch length but are now 8 inch and the spring seats are 2' lower.

RE : A anti-dive kit on the sway bar will pull the front wheels forward.

Answer Dont think so as the front rubs in the same place on opposite Lock.

Tyre offset?? maybe but why is it so high??

Image

original Strut. I had the relocated 50mm lower

Image
Original strut was 24 Inches in length

Image

The recon strut, I have since changed to a 8' spring length so overall it should be 4' lower than before ( 20 inches ) however this affects my shock travel and I would need keeper springs
Image

can some one tell me the length the strut needs to be from stub axle to top of bearing face that sits in strut tower please.

Ta
Emil

Your problem is the shape of the arches.

These pictures are 205/60/13 on 13 x 7 07N with 1 inch spacer and 215/55/15 on 15 x 7 not sure of offset with 1 inch spacer.

With 4 1/2" degrees caster they are getting close to the front edge but miles away from the rear.

Sorry to say this, but that looks like a rear bubble arch on the front.

Pics of front and rear gaurds.
I guess the right and left could be swapped around, that might explain the problem.
Rears are correct I think.
I purchased this car with the gaurds already fitted by someone else.
I have redone the under under side and engine bay. figured the outside cold wait till every thing was sorted mechanically and then strip it back and repaint it . Hence the coulour change from antique white to a brighter white underneath and inside.

If the guards are wrong then I will ADJUST with an angle grinder. I am not going to remount the arches I wudl sooner get a set of full fibreglass guards and fit them up.

I had similiar issues. I fabriacated a bracket to flare out the rear of the bubble and cut the front to allow me to run the camber I wanted:

I can see from here, that the front spring eye is lower than rear pivot.
