Escort Tie rod ends

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know of a tie rod end that has the small fine UNF internal thread of a Mk1 Escort, but the larger taper to suit a Mk2?

I have Mk2 struts in my Mk1, but want to retain my current Mk1 Steering rack.

I have a feeling it may be the 4118S of the Mk2 RS2000?

I have also heard there is a Barina tir rod end that works?

Does anyone have any advice?

Mk2 RS2000 was large thread (Metric) on the tierod end and an imperial taper to suit the Capri struts. I don't think i've ever seen a tirod end that goes the other way like you need.

just change the rack ends (the bit the tie rod ends screw onto)
doesnt matter mk1 or mk2 rack
drill out the locking pins & put whatever ends you want on
you can buy complete sealed units off ebay
or hybrid a mk1 & mk2 rack
its easy

That's not a bad idea. Changing the rod ends. I didn't know that could be done. It would still be nicer to just run different tie rod ends.
