RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

Does anybody have any tips and tricks to getting the rubber bushes into the end of a 4-link bar in the home workshop (Gartrac if it matters)?????

I have tried graphite powder and heating the rubber in near boiling water.

I do not have a press at home so have tried using the bench vice. Even after compressing the bush about 8mm it still doesnt even look like wanting to go in. I am worried that all I will do if push the inner metal sleeve right out of the rubber.

Help needed as I have to temporarily mount the diff in order to work out where the watts link chassis bracket goes......

this stuff helps me squeeze things into tight holes

I did actually consider using some for a few seconds) as I dont have any grease here.

OK. All toys are out of the pram!! Tried everything I could think of (except KY ) will no luck.

Ended up taking the 4 bars to the local engineering bloke who now hates me. Took him 30 minutes to get them all in. With all his expensive gadgets and gizmos he ended up using some Never Seize grease and a bench vice. Cost me $30 and an hour of my time but it saved things in the shed getting smashed
