A drawback with lowered small Ford Mac strut front ends in IP is the difficulty of getting camber compensation and a reasonable non-bending-load tie rod to steering arm relationship when the bump steer has been sorted.
Given that struts and steering arms are free in Improved Production a substitute knuckle with arms that carry the outer BJ a la Mazda or Nissan would help.
The other option would be to fabricate and weld to the Escort knuckle a dropped ball joint carrier that also moved the steering arm down; in effect lift the stub axle to do the lowering.
