RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

Guys,

Need some information on suspension set-up for my MKII 2 Door. It now has a hot 2.0L Pinto going in with about 140-150HP - hopefully

All the suspension is 100% stock. Keep in mind that I am going to race in Targa Wrestpoint Tasmania, so I must keep within regs for my Classic Category.

What I have planned so far:

Front Suspension
- Fully adjustable Koni Coilovers
- Poly Bushes
- Strut Brace
- Worldcup crossmember
- New welded plate to top mounts
- 2.9 Quick Rack
- Heavy Duty Sway bar

Rear Suspension
- Leaf Springs Re-Set
- Lowering Blocks
- Adjustable Track Control Arms
- Anti-Tramp Bars

Any more information would be awesome everyone - any tested and trialed set up information would be great and it may save me hassle, time and money as we are all trying to achieve building professional, good handling and classic Escorts!

Dont forget an anti dive kit for the front ARB,I use a 2" alloy c channel extrusion and 3 blocks machined to suit the profile of the bush,double width as well.

And what is the rear adj track control arms,they are for the front end,forget about the tramp bars they will induce spring bind.
Just reset the rears springs(go single leaf if you can) dont use lowering blocks and rear billies or konis. adjustables
It should handle ok with this set up,you may need to work out your spring rates depending on the track/road conditions

Have to agree with that David. All good advice. The RS Anti tramp bars are just that.....great for eliminating tramp but they bind up in competition use. Reset the spirngs to the desired height and add a "half rebound" spring to fix the tramp.

if you have the bump & rebound setings on the shocks
set up properly ,
there should be no need for 1/2 rebound leaves or tramp bars
am i correct ???

I've never noticed this "binding" problem in the rally car with billies and tramp bars.

I guess it's because in slower corners I'm already sideways before the corner?

cam , have you ever heard any "thumping " in the rear
thru deep ruts or a turn very hard right uphill
when it bogs down a bit then bring the revs up
& dump the clutch again
is the most noticable time
thats because its all bound up & its the perfect
time to start breaking axles, diffs , uni joints , wheel studs etc
ps
bilsteins realy are a good all round setup on most escorts
koni,s are crap on dirt !!
