Believe me its worth persuing.

I started off with like 1.5, then 2.5 then 3.5

Then made a lot of changes to get 6 and car has never been faster.

You only need to look at tires from above to see if edges are wearing or not, then decision is easy.

Ive used these,

These were machined from a bar of high carbon steel, so are quite strong. they add 100mm overall. I got them from a guy making parts for clubman style cars. Can't find his e-mail or web address.
Not sure I like the idea of aluminium, unless an engineer has designed them rather than a machinist making them.

I'm with Justin on this one.
The best aluminium grades only just approach the strength of the crappest mild steel and I would not consider using mild steel.
Hard anodizing provides nil extra strenth.
Things like these need to be made from decent materials.

The other thing George they weren't even hard anodized as it does leave you with a pretty black finish
