so i got mk2 struts for my mk1 coupe, so i can have bigger brakes and decent shocks.

what changes need to be made spring wise? this is for a street car, preferably lower than stock.

.........if you are on a budget........a mate of mine tried this intially on his MK 2 (MK2 struts)and then I tried it on a MK1 (capri struts)

We cut down some standard XF falcon springs to fit in the MK2 struts. The were great on a pinto (2lt), pretty solid ride for a road car
...........and you can cut it anywhere between standard height to 3inches lowered.

I'm guessing yours is a 1600 (less weight) might be too much.....then again most wreckers are happy to get rid of em for cheap..... I think mine cost me $20/set so was worth a play.
let me know if you wanna know more.....as the esky tops need to be in good cond.

cheers. ill look into it, but i heard cut springs is a bad idea cause of the sloped face.

the gist of what i understand, is that mk2 springs are longer so the ride height when the struts are in a mk1 (yup, 1600) would be too high.

is this right?

i also heard that capri springs ($$$) are a good fit in this instance.

didnt know about falcy springs... but it does sound too hard.

the mathematics of springs is a bit much to grasp at this stage.
