Ideal spring rates?

I have a Mk1 Escort RS2000 replica, and would like to know what the best set up would be for the springs? the rear i am led to believe, works best with a combination of panelvan and sedan springs. However the front seems to have varied responses, would 160lb springs be inadequate for dirt purposes?

I run 140 lbs on the front of my MK1, it runs a kent engine so a bit lighter in the front end. I have found these a good rate when it gets rough. 160 lbs should be OK with a pinto I would think.

Mark 2 cortina springs were in the back of mine and seem soft enough to really hook up well in conjunction with trailing arms.the front were about 160 with a pinto and seemed to handle well with adjustable castor front bar.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here Anthony but I also am trying to work out spring rates for my MKII which I have just started Autocrossing.
MK2 2.0L Pinto, It currently runs 250lb fronts and 145lb rears, obviously not set up for dirt, would I be correct in assuming that I could just go lower in the front springs, down to around the 150lb as per MK2 RS2000 Gp 1/A/B, and the backs would be fine? Or should I be going lower lbs in the rear as well?
As for shocks the car currently runs the Koni yellows, are these suitable for this purpose?

Thanks, Daniel

Ok, ended up putting 150lb king springs in the front. :D

The rear springs i've been led to believe will work best by using the main leaf from p/van, cutting the eyes from the sedan next, then the p/van 2nd and 3rd, whilst inverting the 4th and laying it over the top to reduce rebound.

What's the general opinion on this set-up? it seems as though it may be too stiff to me, or does the inverted spring reduce the effect of the 2nd main leaf :?:

Any feedback appreciated.

For the record, RS Group C car runs 140lb rears with 450lb fronts

Seems to work though. :D
