Strut braces

I'm getting a strut brace made up for my Mk2. As it's running a Sierra EFI manifold it needs a oval shaped brace like whats sold in UK.
I've been told to re-think the design as it won't help the car at all the alloy pipe will flex too much.
It was 32mm dia pipe with 5mm wall thickness.
Any thoughts on this, or alternate designs?

Here's a couple of pics from the WA RS owners club. Sierra manifold with a straightish brace.

Dont know how they manage that brace unless they have a bonnet with the ribs removed, fiberglass or similar, mine rubs at that point on a standard crosmember, I notice they have had to flatten the bar over the manifold, this will increase the likelyhood of bending at the junction of the flat section and standard tube... Wont it?

Paul, when my orange esky was on the road i did 2 consecutive runs through the twisties near my house - 1 without brace, 1 with. as soon as i put the brace on it was noticible. it flattened out the front and cut down a lot of the body roll.
Rhys, when you come to a decision about the brace if your friend is keen on making 2 i'd be happy to buy one.

You guys thought about using flat oval tubing? Its only 16.5mm high by 50mm wide (1.6 or 2.5mm thick). Looks good, only prob is that most metal places while only bring it in by the 6m length so you end up with a bit left over.
