I saw a design that incorporates the tow hook into the anti dive centre ARB clamp. Neat solution although not sure if practical on a tarmac car. Maybe smooth circuit car only.
I am a little concerned about attaching the tow hook to one chassis rail only. In the event of a large tug being applied, could it pull the chassis rail out of alignment???
Anybody use the fabric style tow loop?

I use the fabric type, seem to be okay (only used once.)
I would think that if you were to have to pull hard enough to bend a rail, there would probably be far more damage done to the car before it needed a Tow.

Ta David. There are regs concerning having a tow hook sticking out further than the bumper. I will not be having bumpers so I have a nasty feeling that I will not be able to register the car with a metal tow hook hence my question about the fabric ones.
I dont like the idea of a great big winch hook bashing against the car though but as you said, if its being winched there is a big chance that some other areas are not looking too nice anyway.

I "tuck" the Fabric ones in behind the bumpers. My car is road registered.

If you trawl through the state committee minutes on the cams website there is commentary in I think the Vic Scrutineers minutes that they have had a couple of recent failures of seatbelt strap type tow hooks.
In each case the strap material failed due to UV/sun damage.
Their concerns have been that these have occured when the car was being winched onto a flat top tow truck and put the recovery marshals at risk when the car rolled off the truck.
