The Bulletin refers to 5 & 6 point belts approved under the following codes FIA 8853/98 & FIA 8853 - 1985. My previous belts (expired 2005) and my current Sparco belts have neither of these codes on them. So how many people are actually going to benefit? Check your belts and tell us.

Got this from Willans,
They seem worried about the loss of revenue

but my harness has got years to go
Dear Mark,
We have just heard about this ruling and are somewhat nervous about it
as 10 years is a long time and some of the harnesses we get back after 5
years are in poor condition due to wear and abuse. It is essential to
check the webbing on a regular basis for wear or rubbing, especially on
the areas which are stitched.
Your harness is approved under FIA 8854/98 which is the standard for 4
point harnesses issued by the FIA in 1998. 8853/98 is the standard for 6
point harnesses issued at the same time. It appears from the document
that you sent me that your harness is covered by the extension.
Best regards,
Simon Perkins
