Complete MK1 rubber kit req'd

Postby Cort500 » Sat Jan 23, 2016 7:25 am

I know this forum doesn't get much action these days but I am chasing a full rubber kit for one of my mk1 2 doors. After all the research I have done, East Kent Trim Supplies are the cheapest at 270 quid but it looks as if they don't ship to rest of the world any more.
I have read some threads on here with people that have bought them but it seems to be a while ago. I have checked out al the Oz suppliers and they are double the price as per usual.
So my question is where do you guys get them from? Have you guys got any contacts to get them shipped from the UK? Other wise I will have to ask someone real nice on the Turbosport forums.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I bought a full kit from East Kent as you mentioned. Everything fitted well. Was 4-5 years ago though

Yeah Danny, I have been looking at their prices. Depending on what postage is it could be comparable to over here. Worst thing is I will be needing 2 sets of them in the next year or so. The turbo duratec mk1 build is still sitting in my shed looking at me.

Adam,

you should have had an email from Harrie.
Postagecost from the Netherlands to WorldWide is relatively cheap compared to from the UK.
For instance a parcel upto 2 kgs to Australia, track-trace + insured is approx. 26 euro.
Parcel upto 5 kgs is 36 euro.

Regards, Leon.

I have bought a few rubber bits in the past from the UK to save a few bucks, just one ill fitting set of door seals was enough of a waste of money to more than make up for any savings I should have made over just buying them here in the first place. Everything rare spares I've tried has been an excellent fit and really wasn't that much more than buying overseas and with the dollar now it's probably even less a difference. And if it just doesn't works you can take it back.
Anyway, just my opinion but I don't think it's worth the hassle and potentially no real savings if everything isn't perfect. Good rubber just isn't one of those things you can win big on by being a tight arse in the car game from what I see.
Just something to consider.

Hi
I got screen seals and some other bits for my mk1 from East Kent Trim a couple of months ago.Apparently when they set up the new website it didn't allow them to do overseas postage.
Just send them an email and they will give you a cost.(Wendy is the lady I think).Quick postage and good quality too!

Hello,

East Kent Trim attended our Classic Ford Event couple of times and they almost sold out every year because their products were very good.
Since Lee who ran EKT has left the feedback I hear is not good.
Quality of the products is poor, no reply to emails, long delivery time.

Maybe as Mark writes they got their act together recently but I will not deal with them myself.

Regards, Leon.
