My new steel flywheel takes a 184mm clutch. Anyone got any recommendations? It will be sitting behind a Tarmac rally pinto putting out decent horsepower and subject to frequent abuse and hard launches.
Cheers in advance,
Paul.

My car uses one of Jim Berry's 184mm alloy cover single plates with a 3 paddle carbotic clutch plate and yes it handles silly @#$% like side stepping the clutch at 8500rpm and it uses the standard Escort cable and has a softer pedal than standard. The next best is a Sach's 184mm single plate followed by the AP alloy cover lug mount cover.
Try to stay away from the thin disc type clutch plates as they don't handle any heat and are not as progressive to drive as they sort of grab when they take up where as a decent paddle type like mine is like driving a standard clutch and can be slipped if necessary.
Ring Jim!!!!

While I didn't get my clutch from Jim (timing and availability), I did speak to him prior to getting mine and it was without doubt one of the most educational and best customer service experiences I ever had and wouldn't hesitate to use/speak to him. So I also concur... ring Jim. Top bloke. All your questions will be answered.

Thanks guys, I'll give Jim a call. I have used him before but it was 15 years ago when I was playing with Jap turbo stuff.
Paul.
