Hmmm... looks like the one out of my German RS. I bought a good second hand one from the UK, but it you can get them here that would be great.
Roger, have you got a pic of the other side of the mount?

I showed Cogan all this and he couldnt work out what I was on until he saw a Mk2 in wreckesr and said hes never seen mounts like that.
So yeah all english/german escorts are probably based on early mk1 mounts
Then threre this "fabricated" unit that uses a MK1 Cortina?? style mount

What am I likely to find these on?
Rhys,
1968 to mid 1974 Mk1 escort.
eg
low back seats.
angled shockers
not auto
single large manufacturers plate on heater bubble
OR
any escort built out of australia ??
Is it basically a mount that allows rear of gearbox to sit lower?
The brackets on tunnel stick out less, therefore bolt pattern is wider on these.

Just out of interest, here is a pic of my German RS gearbox (rebuilt and ready to go back in) with an extension housing off a MK2 Escort as a comparison.
Main differences are the gearstick location and the positioning of the mount on the housing. Note it is several inches further forward than the standard housing. Mine takes the MK1 gearbox mount with the gearbox lowering blocks that the English cars run.
Hard to believe Ford could change so many things really.

Thanks for that nev....certainly explains the positioning difference
It would seem as ford OZ did the MK2 chassis change [done to MK1 escorts some time in 1974] they decided to use this mount

This ment that the brackets on the body needed to be made bigger to accept same. ..............anyone why

Roger,
I bought a gearbox mount from Gartrac (something they fabricate) many moons ago and it looks different again.
Cheers
