G'day
I've switched out my old 3 speed auto for a 5 speed Type 9 in my mk2 escort, and I've noticed apon re-fitting my 1 pce tailshaft, that there's a small gap between the shaft and the gearbox. Is this acceptable?
The gap is about 2 cm's in length, Photos below...

Keith,
they don't butt up together, needs to be some space so it can slide in and out as the rear diff moves in an arc as it travels up and down, shortening and lengthening the tailshaft as it moves.
Craig
PS where did you get you 5 speed from in the end?

thanks Craig, that makes good sense. My only real worry was that I'd be leaking gearbox oil and then munching the box.
After checking with Geoff from over east, as well as tony and Roley about prices, Roley ended up with the best prices on everything, and he had it all in stock!
I had the whole car back together the night before AFD, I just couldn't wire it up in time, 3am was as far as I could push myself.
The wiring for my starter motor doesn't follow the wiring diagram and is evil. Many requests from the club members I have.
