Cosworth Turbo Exhaust

Ok bare with me!
Engine builder said 3 inch exhaust!
Im asking? could I branch of from the down pipe into two - 2 or 2 1/4 pipes through to back of car.
For packaging reasons this might be easier and neater than a single 3 inch pipe from front to rear.
I know I can procure the necessary merge collectors (installed backwards) but is this the worst idea ever.
I think I will be running two mufflers anyhoo this might mean two smaller ones under the boot past the diff.
All pipes will run under the diff.

I'll begin by saying "I am no exhaust expert". Now that's out of the way, I would think that as long as the cross sectional area of the 2 pipes adds up to at least the area of the 3" then it should be OK (maybe a bit larger as there will be slightly more losses in 2 pipes as opposed to 1.)

But I'm an expert in nothing but bad Ideas sometimes so thought Id ask.

Mines 3", out the passenger side (recommended). It's lighter and you don't have to worry about the diff/watts link etc.

Also mine doesn't have a muffler, straight out and is less than 95 dB. Might be worth testing before you spend $$$ on a muffler.

It crosses just rearward of the gearbox mount. It is then flattened and widened to pass under the chassis rail. May have to take a photo on the weekend. Every now and then it scraps on a ripple strip but not a massive issue.

Yeah not a lot of room under a low mk. Multiple pipes or oval. Side exit even better.

did some measuring today and an oval or twin oval pipe may be the way to go. Any exhaust tunnel taller than 15mm into the cabin will hit the underside of the seat. I hope I can see out of this thing.
