Hello to all fellow old skool kool escort enthusiasts, am currently building my own mk1 escort
which i will update at a later time, now the reason for this post is have decided to use a mitsubishi
evo 8 mr/fq400 engine to power it and although some will disagree with my choice it is the way I
want to go with it, have been told a fellow member on here has already done said conversion and
would like a little help in contacting him/her as have many question/ideas of my own but would
like a little clarity of which i'm hoping he/she can provide

many regards hadyn

welcome Hadyn.
Dont know of said conversion, if its been on this site Im sure someone who knows it will be along.
Tell us more about what you plan to do with the car and get some photos up.
Good luck with the conversion

plan to use the car for time attack/sprint events with the occasional criuse thrown in as plan to
road register it as well, so the obvious roll cage will be fitted, had various engine options yb, zetec rs
and so on but as I drive an evo7 at the mo thought why not put one in the escort just to be a little
different :) will post photos as it progresses with a hopefull finish time of 2015 depending on the
purse strings of course

G'day mate,

Depending on what state you live in this may or may not be of relevance but if you plan on registering it, there are strict rules in place that govern capacity increase and even stricter ones that cover roll cages. Before you get started, find a good engineer registered and approved by whatever governing roads authority for your state and chat to them about what you can do, and what they are willing to sign off on. You may find it changes the whole direction of your build.

Cheers,
Llewellyn

thanks jon, been searching for this a while, car is based in brisbane QLD and will be sorting out the
legal issues as i go as per the plan from the start, don't intend to be one of those fookers that ruin it
for others when doing projects like this without getting the proper info/regs, also keeps the cops happy
(or unhappy) when i pull out the papers saying it's all legal

again thanks for all the info, will start a new thread in the projects part and update as i get things done
