Demon Tweeks

OK guys/girls the below was posted by me on a UK car forum last night and the majority of replies agree. All I can say is be careful.

Not wanting to cause a stir here but whats your dealings with Demon Tweeks as I'm pretty peed off with them and am thinking they are taking the **** cos I'm an overseas buyer?

Reason for asking is I recently made a purchase with them (terratrip retro rally computer) but upon arrival in OZ they had sent the wrong item (completly their fault as from day one I specifically requested the retro rally item). I made contact with them and they told me to send it back as cheaply as possible (cheaply as possible means what?) I did point out that cheaply as possible would mean the slow boat to China and god knows how long it would take, at the same time I asked them when they would send out the right item. They told me when the wrong item arrives back at their place, alternatively I could pay for a 2nd item and they would send pronto (then refund me when the wrong item arrived back at demon tweeks) . I told them no way would I pay for a 2nd item if I am sending the wrong one back as cheaply as possible (especially when it wasn't me that screwed up). I promptly advised them that I would post the goods back registered mail as we then guarantee delivery (I also sent them photos as proof of posting). At the same time they had an offer on throwing in a free navigators bag with every purchase of a rally computer but this too did not arrive. I also pointed this out and was advised it would be sent when the Retro computer was sent.

Anyway correct item arrived yesterday with no navigators bag so I made contact with them and reminded them of the following (also included ALL correspondence so they can see it for themselves)
1 Wrong item was initially sent through no fault of my own
2 I am out of pocket as I had to pay for the return shipment
3 Nav bag was not sent even though I was told it would be (this actually does not bother me that much but given the poor service I'm demanding a reason why on principal)
4 I asked for shipping details for tracking purposes and even though it was promised it was never supplied (again not a big thing but I have been stung before so if I have tracking details I can at least track it)

Cheeky so and so's (public forum here so words shall remain clean) told me and I quote "YOU (yes it was spelt in capital letters) requested the wrong item and we only posted the replacement out in good faith"

I am flabbergasted at their response and I do believe they don't give a poo, If I still lived in the uk I would drive to their premises and throw the tripmaster through their bloody front window.

Anyway rant over (now it's off my chest I might calm down)

BTW if the administrator withdraws this as I'm making an accusation I do understand but I'm posting to protect others. I'm more than happy to email all correspodence upon request as proof of the above.

Also extracted from the same discussion from a forum user:

I think you'll find JJC and Demon Theives are the same company.
Both registered at the same address, and both supply the same products. I think maybe DT are aware of their reputation and have done something different to get the rallying community back on board.

It is distressing to hear someone having a bad experience buying os and it does sound like he copped a raw deal.
I bought a set of alloy hubs from Gartrac years ago and they sent out the wrong ones. I rang them back and they said they were sorry for their mistake and would send the correct ones. I asked what they wanted me to do with the first set and they said keep them, its not worth the hassle sending them back. Beauty, scored a set of group 4 hubs for nicks.
I recently bought a set of Toyos from Demon Tweeks and found them great to deal with. Good communication, prompt dispatch, even followed up to make sure the tyres arrived ok. Tyres arrived five days after payment. A mate also bought a set of tyres and had them here in 6 days. Maybe we were lucky or maybe the other guy was unlucky. I would definitely buy from them again.

Cheers Peter

I have been dealing with DT for years and have only 1 problem. I bought a very expensive ATL fuel filter and when it arrived the thread size was incorrect ( the part no. on the bag was correct though). I sent it back and they paid the postage and then sent me the correct filter.

I've had four orders from Demon Tweeks and they've all arrived as ordered and in about five days.

No complaints here.

I have never had any problems with DT before, haven't used them for a few years though.

There are others out there that I avoid like the plague though.

Taking this off topic a bit, a question for Petervs what sort of shipping charge did you pay for a set of tyres?
I am sick of paying $400+ for each tyre in Oz when the same is for sale for 1/3 the price in the UK, was thinking of ordering overseas next time, but thought shipping would be horrendous on these.

Mark - I have just ordered a set of 205/15's from the UK and postage for 4 tyres worked out to be GBP178.

One of the guys from Mt Cotton in early 2011 bought 4x 205/50/15 Proxy 888's from UK (yes from DT) and price was just over $800 landed, and date stamped early 2011 as well. He said as long as the purchase price was less than $1000, no extra tax payable. Haven't tried this myself yet, but was going to look into it next time but maybe not DT anymore. 02cents.gif

You just need to be able to line someone to put the tyres on the rims (try the independants). Most of the franchise outlets seem to get a bit ticked off when you want them to put tyres you didn't buy from them, onto the rim.

In Perth the norm now seems to be $15 a wheel to fit and balance. But when i'm saving $500+ on the set of tyres, an extra $60 isn't that bad!

Freight is reasonable enough I think, I think I know where my next set of tyres will be coming from.

I think I will be looking into this for the next set of Avon tires I buy.
