Hi Mark,
We are ok here. We are about 5-10km's away from the closest the fires got to us, though there were some small ones just down the street. Had the wind have changed direction again things might have been different.
The big one that went through Kinglake (and many other towns) was about 30km away but you could see it clearly and smell it from here.
Truly did look like hell on earth.
We regularly travel too and through most of the areas and towns that have now been devastated and our hearts and thoughts go to those who have had to endure this shocking event.
If anyone wants to help there is a Victorian Bushfire Relief Appeal - phone the Red Cross on 1800 811 700 to make a donation.
On another note i hope none of the FNQ members have been washed away with the floods up north either.
Cheers, Glenn

The fire in Ferntree Gully was about 500m from my place. It was an interesting experience watching the helicopter waterbomber going about it's business. The nice bush area i used to walk to work through is now all gone.
My mate got a closer look in Traralgon. He said the whole place went dark, there was an eerie orange glow and it was raining burnt leaves. They were lucky as the fire didn't directly threaten their place.
I have a few friends to chase up over the next couple of days. A former workmate lives in St Andrews and a girl from uni lives in Chum Creek. I hope they're ok.

Has anyone officially heard from Lincoln yet ? As I am trying to track him down about a block that he had for sale.
I guess they may have phone lines down near where he is or something ???

No he didn't!
From what i understand Lincoln lives at Kangaroo Ground which has not been effected by the fires.
Lets just all hope that he wasn't visiting friends in one of the areas that were effected and is sitting on a beach somehwere having a holiday.

Sorry I have missed this thread and thanks for the thoughts.
