RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

For those that didn't follow the UK race scene back in the 90's, this is Paul Bailey's MK2 Escort racer, this car basically destroyed the opposition in the Vecta race series, including a fair few RS500's

The Vecta series was very popular, and saw some great development from HT racing and Dave Walker's Emerald operation on the N/A cars too.

Bailey Motorsport grew from his obvious talent at fabrication, and now there aren't many fast Fords in the Uk that don't have some of his alloy products fitted.

Nowadays it is usually seen coming out of retirement to scare passengers around Donnington for RS Owners Club National Day, it is always popular with the crowds and just seems to have a real menacing aura about it, in the Uk this battered looking race car is an absolute legend

As you may notice it has a style that I am quite fond of

Bloody hell that's a blast from the past and if my memory serves me correct in the early days he used to drive to the events, race it and then drive it home again.

Mark I have that magazine tucked away in the vault! What an awesome machine. Was he excluded from racing because he wanted to fit part of a helicopter blade under the back of the car to reduce lift at speed?

This is the car (and the man himself looking under the bonnet, well sort of) at the RSOC National Day at Donington in 2005.
He took several passengers (1 at the time) for some laps on the circuit, they were all flabbergasted of the speed of the car.

Still have an old video of the 1992 Vecta series, will dig it out and digitalise some of it to put on youtube.
