advice on rear end

hello
im just after opinions on what i could do to the rear end of my mk2 4 door. its currently running a series 2 mazda rx7 rear end. its got a 4.11 ratio, lsd and hardened axles. i like the setup but the problem is its too wide. from hub to hub its just a tad over 1450mm. this means i cant fit wider wheels to it.
problem 2 is that its a rx7 stud pattern (front and rear) which is 4x110. these are proving very hard to find wheels for.
basically i am wanting to go for a style like this. not a fan of 16's on a escort but they came with the car. the car will be my sunday cruiser once on the road
so im after opinions. here is what ive thought so far
get the current rear end cut down to standard escort width (will still have the rx7 stud pattern)
get a stock escort rear end and fit (will then have to get lsd, axle's ect but will have 4x108 stud pattern)
fit another rear end (open to suggestions)
its got rx7 front brakes/hubs too but on a escort strut so changing that back will be easy.
not sure if escort axles will fit the rx7 diff.
i dont mind keeping the stud pattern if i can find the right wheels, but there is far better range in a 4x108
here is what it looks like
and when i fitted a standard escort offset 15x7 to the rear ( physically fits over the studs but dosnt line up correctly, can get 1 wheel nut on)
all opinions welcome
cheers
