Strength of a mk2 escort diff??????????

Hi,im in the middle of fitting a 302 clevo and auto to my mk2 escort sedan.How strong is the borg warner style escort diff????It's ratio is 4.11.

Short answer - it's not.
I would expect it to last about as long as it takes for your 302 to warm up.

But what sort of hp would it be rated at???I have a stock 302clevo in it from a ZK fairlane and a stock C10 and converter.

Given they were put behind 1300 & 1600 engines I would think not a lot. Once you put a 2L in front of them they don't last long. Obviously it will work for a while, but the thing that will kill it is torque, and a stock 302 will have a lot more of that than any of the factory engines.
Run it if you must to start with but I'd be planning a diff change pretty quickly

I want 30 minutes in the sweep, axle to go first. Nev is right, its the torque that will try to make licorice twists out of the axles.
I would recommend a cut down falcon BW, probably the cheapest option without going hilux.

Darren the bw he's got is the original Ford supplied one and the same that was fitted to the ke30 Corolla's and Leyland Marina's and are smaller than your falcon based diff

It's alrite fella's im running a b1800 diff under the rear of the escort.Fits perfect and im running 15x6.5 ranger rims with 205/65 on them.Also the rear is lowered 2inches aswell.
