hi guys,

i've been trying to research this as much as possible, but info seems small.

i'm trying to clarify what all these different types of diffs i see referenced actually mean.

so from my understanding ford used two types of diffs called banjo and salisbury. for some reason the banjo was also called an english diff and the salisbury was called an atlas?

additionally who made these diffs? because it appears holden was using these diffs in the torana and kingswood in the 70s too.

Have to agree with Mark C - don't bother with a Quaife LSD. They might be alright on IRS cars where you tend to keep both wheels on the ground, but in a live rear axle where you can get the inside wheel light, it will spin like an open centre.

A clutch plate type LSD (like the original Ford Motorsport ones or the Trans X) ae the way to go, but they are not cheap. For a road car that might see a competition event once or twice a year - I wouldn't bother. I don't feel the expense would be worth it. But if you're planning to do any sort of regular compeition, I'd have it #1 on the shopping list. You won't regret it
