Fan blades are usually curved for performance, therefore fan works best one way
However, blade assembly
usually comes off of motor and can be reversed.

I mounted a Davies Craig fan through the rad, I know it isn't the best way but it hasn't caused a problem in 7 years, plus probably a bit lighter than a bracket. I used a 323/Laser thermoswitch in the same place on the thermostat housing as the pics show, had to use a change over relay and a normal relay but the install is quite neat.

mine isn't dead centre, works ok....my only cooling problem is the rad could do with being a little bigger as at idle after a fast run it won't cool down much by itself, once you get free air moving over it, like taking of from the lights it cools down straight away. The thermos fan/rad combo won't let it climb higher but has trouble bringing it down.
