Just cause I can I installed an electric oil temp gauge and pressure gauge on the AWD GTi. everything engine wise is standard...
The gauge sender is installed in a spin on adaptor between the block and the filter.
At highway speeds 80 mile per hour it reads 120 degree c, that seems to be as hot as it gets, while engien under power the pressure gauge reads 50-60 psi but atidle when that hot it drops to 20 psi.

what is oils (semi synth in this case) opperating range. maximum temperature. Im not really concerned as is factory standard and must be OK, but just interested. Perhaps there is a better location to mount the guage sender, like in the bin...

To be honest I drove here for the first 2 years having no idea what the motorway speed limits are, you are correct its 70 miles per hour, but the law that be seem to look the other way at 80 if your passing in the fast lane, So I just claim Im passing the trees, the houses, the white lines. However I get passed by a significant number of cars like im standing still and...well perhaps speed does kill maybee 3 miles and hour more the oil boils and im engulfed in a fire ball. Hmmmmm
