GSXR 750 Carbs on X-Flow
On my X-Flow. I can get some from the US off one of those eBay bike wreckers for $250 + postage, would just have to make up a manifold and connect the carbs with some rubber tube or something. IMO it seems like they would be just as good as Twin 40 webers, if you can let in the same amount of air then you can let in enough fuel to match so I should achieve the same kind of power. Bike carbs are much easier to tune as well, I believe you just drill the jets out to 1.5mm or so to begin with.
The fuel is gravity fed to the float bowls when they're on a bike so how can I get the right pressure from the fuel tank to keep the bowls topped up? Would I use the stock fuel pump and regulator or an electric fuel pump?
Planning to buy a new dizzy with electronic ignition as opposed to points and a side exit cap... Will it be o.k to use a non-vacuum distributor as these carbs probably don't have any vacuum line exits?
I have a set of R1 Bike Carbs on my Pinto and they are excellent.
If you have a decent budget get a manifold from Bogg Bros in the UK. They are second to none.
As to the fuel pump, it's easiest to use the same pump from the bike the carbs came from. You can dick around with fuel pressure regs etc but just use the bike pump and it's set and forget. Yo can actually use any pump from a carbed bike of a similar size.
The R1's are 40mm and will flow as much air as a standard 45mm webber so yours which I believe are 38mm will be equal to a 40mm webber.
They don't need vaccuum so you're fine there.
The only other thing will be is you still have the brake booster. If so you'll need to run a vaccuum line from each port runner.
They are very easy to set up and run great.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers
Matt

Planning to head in the direction of a club rally car with my escort, don't care much about street-ability, as long as it's fun to drive.
I would get a pair of webers but the extra money I'd need to spend on the linkages and all of the bits and pieces to get it tuned sound like they would add up to what I'd already spent on the webers themselves. Hopefully putting bike carbs on won't cause too many troubles.
Those carbs look the duck's on your pinto. I can just see mine with some red foam filters on it. I was hoping to install a bias pedal box set up so that would eliminate the booster.
Would that be an item they would pick on in a roadworthy check/scrutiny for a club permit?
Hmm, I guess it would be a pain having to clean them so often, they only work if they're oiled so the dust would stick like @#$% to a blanket. Understandable why brake mods are frowned upon.
So its taken me a few years to get around to making my manifold for r1 carbs for my khanacross esky but as of yesterday its all tacked together ready to fully weld once i have some gas. the query i have with one of the post a few above is .
Can i run the xflow without Vacuum advance and if so do i just not connect it up or do i have to do something to the dizzy?
