Grp4 Pedal Box
I have a pedal box from Grp4 in Ireland. It's a well made bit of kit however I have a few questions.
1) I've installed the standard accelerator cable. The top part where the accelerator cable attaches seems to foul one of the master cylinder pins, I can grind a bit off to create some clearance but was wondering if I should get a different accelerator pedal instead.
2) Should I install two washers between the master cylinder pins and the cylindrical adjustor they go through? They seem to wear against them.
Spread them far enough apart that even with washers the trunions don't bind so with has full adjustability and the threads will almost hit the outsides of the tube
Interesting topic alright. Our pedalboxes were never desiged to use the standard acc pedals but more so the grp4 throttle pedal. A good and cheaper alternative for you maybe---keep us updated of it.
crusy , that reminds me of our setup on the aston we looked at all sorts of stuff & ended up with our own pedal box billet cnc (copy of AP) & pull type m/c rather than push type it came down to "modulation: of pedal and we put pressure sensors in each front & rear lines with led display on the steering wheel the next step is graphing it like the link you put up ps i dont know much about computer motec gizmo,s etc but no matter what , driving by seat of the pants beats most other methods
So I decided to get the Grp4 Accelerator pedal. Bugger me if I can figure out where I'm going to run the cable through the firewall and where the pedal block sits. Is this the right position? I'm thinking of cutting a hole on the side of the bonnet hanger and use the exact same grommet as used for the bonnet cable. Thoughts? Anyone have one of the grommets in good nick they'll sell?
Don't get me started on trying to run the reservoirs through the firewall. Lee who made the bracket did an awesome job, I got it polished. I'm trying to use the speedfow angle bits for the bottom of one of the reservoirs, but I'm struggling. Because the thread of the reservoir is so low (requierd due bonnet) the hole cut has to be large for the speedflow end however I ca't source a grommet that will fit an 18mm holw with 16mm ID. I'm trying to avoid cutting any more holes underneath.
Well after much swearing and head scratching I figured it out in the end. Only two holes drilled. Underneath the firewall no holes or cutting was required, the hoses are un-kinked, needed a 125 deg bend for one of them though. The guys at Go Gear were nice enough to allow me to fiddle with a few bits before I settled on something. Everything fits nicely. The car should be ready for scrutineering ext weekend for the stampede at Barbagallo on 24th. The third pot is a spare for a hydraulic clutch one day, I'll just sit the third reservoir in there.
^^ Ditto. That's what I had to do with mine. Needed a good quality cable and a return spring on the pedal to ensure no binding. I also used a 80 degree threaded tube angle from a push bike brake setup to make it all a bit smoother.
That's the best one I have at hand, but I can get a better one later tonight. It was rushed so not the best fit (hence the lot of sikaflex) but it works.
