Hi All,
So I have decided my car is against me, and just when I think I have it figured out, it kicks me in the butt.
My car is a 8/75 Mk1 1300xl coupe, which at some stage of its life, has been fitted with a 1600 kent of some description (my guess is 1600GT cortina, 32 dfv carb). It also appears to have been factory fitted with a Mk2 style english axle and Mk2 rear brakes. The front struts and brakes are Mk1. It has a 1300GT style single reservior twin circuit master cylinder and booster, which I think is a 13/16".
I have decided to ditch the disk brake rear, commodore caliper capri rotor front, coil over conversion plan, and go with something much simpler.
Stock rebuilt Mk2 rear brakes with P10035 19mm cylinders on the back, and either slotted standard Mk2 rotors and rebuilt calipers with EBC greenstuff pads, or Spaced calipers and capri 2.8 slotted rotors and grenstuff pads in the front. Rebuilding the standard Master cylinder. Also using Mk2 1.6 struts with monroe inserts a lowered 170lb springs.
This is a fun street car, which might be lucky to ever see either a drag strip or hillclimb once in its life. At some stage in the future, it might get its 1600 upgraded to a mild pinto.
What are your thoughts guys? opinions wanted! Is the vented upgrade a waste? Bendix ultimates better for the street? Different wheel cylinders?
